We are excited about the broadcast of an episode of the Rocky Mountain PBS (channel 6) original history series “Colorado Experience” on the visit of Pope John Paul II to Denver.
The show will air at 7 p.m. on October 23 – the day after John Paul II’s feast day.
On the show, the visit of JPII in 1993—the event that launched the New Evangelization here in the Archdiocese of Denver—is being recognized as an important moment in the history of Colorado.
The documentary notes that people came to Denver for World Youth Day on pilgrimage seeking God. Furthermore, one of those young people was so moved by St. John Paul II that he heard, and received, the call to the priesthood. What a powerful testimony of faith to air on our public airwaves!
At the end of the broadcast, there are three minutes dedicated to the last years of John Paul II, and his very public witness of suffering through the last stages of Parkinson’s. Those few minutes are particularly relevant as we continue to pray and work against further encroachments of the culture of death here in Colorado.
After watching the episode, please call RMPBS to thank them for making this episode. Encourage them to continue telling the stories of people of faith here in our state!
